Coaching strategies for church growth culturally and historically relevant for Hispanic Methodists

Annual Goal: $36,700.00

Year to Date Gifts: $158.25

Describe the need affecting community
Many Methodist Churches both in Mexico and the United States have very small growth, little to no growth, and even loss of membership. Many pastors are good servants, but need some orientation and motivation in order for them to inspire and guide their congregations to regain a vision and passion for faith sharing, disciple making and new church planting. In Mexico, there is a lack of experienced and specialized personnel that might help pastors and local church leader to design strategies for growth suitable for their particular settings and conditions. Most ministers in Mexico´s Methodist Church are focused on pastoral ministry, this ministry is finantially supported by the local church, while districts and conferences are not able to support full time ministries on other areas. Most resources of the local church are directed to meet the needs of the church itself, not of the community outside. There is an enormous lack of vision for the salvation of those who have not had a personal experience with The Lord. If we can set a ministry to equip, train, orientate and motivate both pastors and lay leaders on the issues of how to bring others to know Christ, and how to help them become committed disciples that make disciples. The churches would be strengthened and the churches can multiply.
How will this Advance project help to address the need?

This project will inform pastors and lay leaders on the "how to" for church growth. It also will help them design strategies and plans that might help them mobilize their local churches toward the goal of making disciples for Christ within the Methodist Church. By means of direct coaching and follow ups. The pastors will have the opportunity to get orientation for specific needs arising in their pastoral settings. The project implies a sequence of meetings to keep widening the vision and perspective for growth, that may last up to two or three years. Seminars and workshops will be offered quarterly or every six months with the objective of giving a close follow up to the growth process. Seminars and workshops will be directed mainly to districts of clusters of churches while personal coaching shall be maintained.
