The Global United Methodist Church has missionaries all around the world with unbelievable courage doing unbelievable good. We have over 300 missionaries serving in over 60 countries. Often, these missionaries are connected to projects in the local communities. We worked in a hospital, helped with water and sanitation, and started a business with local artists. Other missionaries help educate their communities on agriculture and safe births. Other missionaries come along side global refugees and immigrants or equip pastors with bi-vocational training to meet both physical and spiritual needs. These projects are worthy involving eternal significance. Important work is being done through God’s spirit in the UMC. But I think missionaries will tell you the real importance is through individual relationships… -It is with the Peace Corp volunteer who has dismissed the church but finds a much needed place of rest with the missionaries - -It is in the conversations with the young woman looking for an alternative to female circumcision. -It is with the elderly woman who has been cast out because her family cannot support her. -It is with the orphan who needs their school uniform mended.
